A senior marketing, strategy and leadership professional, Eric Albertini brings to MCE over 25 years of international experience in Strategic Marketing, Business Strategy and Leadership Development. He has particular knowledge of the financial and professional services industries as well as mining and manufacturing. Eric has a strong systems thinking orientation and is a skilled facilitator.
Professional background
Today Eric consults in the areas of marketing, sales, business strategy, and leadership development. He serves on the boards of various executive education institutions. Eric is adjunct faculty to some of the top business schools in South Africa. Eric started his career in the life assurance industry where he gained experience across all aspects of the financial services value chain. Having gained experience in organizational effectiveness and process improvement at Ernst &Young, Eric then joined Standard Corporate and Investment Bank (a division of the Standard Bank of South Africa) in 1999 where he was responsible for the turnaround strategy of the Business Online division (now known as Global Transactional Banking) taking this business unit from a loss making cost center into one of the Group’s most profitable service lines. After working as a “trouble shooter” in various areas of corporate banking, he was asked to set up the corporate bank’s global learning capability. In 2003 he established the Group’s Global Leadership Centre – a world-class learning and leadership development capability responsible for developing leaders across 24 countries. It was during the research phase of this project that Eric embarked on his PhD, wanting to investigate the efficacy of leadership development practices in developing leaders for the future world of work.
Education and qualifications
Eric holds a PhD in Leadership from the University of Johannesburg, a Masters in Philosophy (Personal, Interpersonal and Professional Leadership), and an Honors degree in Financial Management (obtained with distinction). Eric also has an undergraduate degree in Marketing and a postgraduate diploma in Strategic Marketing. He is an accredited trainer of the Prosci change management methodology and of the Miller Heiman Strategic Selling sales methodology. Eric is skilled in instructional design, having trained in the 4Mat 4 Design, and the ENGAGE models of instructional design.
Personal
Born of Italian parents, Eric is a South African citizen (with Italian citizenship) living in Johannesburg. He is fluent in English and Italian.
