Eric Montague

Faculty PictureEric brings over 25 years of experience in the software technology industry, with notable tenures at artificial intelligence pioneer Nuance Communications (acquired by Microsoft in 2021) and location technology leader TomTom. Throughout his career, Eric has excelled in leadership roles across sales, business development, product management, and product marketing. He is passionate about technology and has led cross-functional teams in launching a multitude of AI-powered products globally.

Professional background

As a sales leader, Eric managed strategic accounts and cultivated relationships with some of the world’s leading technology companies, including Mercedes, Toyota, Samsung, and Huawei. Over 15 years, he consistently exceeded sales targets, earning a top sales professional award in 2008 out of 800 peers. These experiences have honed Eric’s skills in strategic selling, structured account planning, and cross-functional team leadership.
As a product leader, Eric has successfully guided over 20 product managers, overseeing a portfolio of more than 50 AI-powered products used by hundreds of millions of users globally. He has managed the full product lifecycle, from strategy to end-of-life, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market needs. Eric is well-versed in best practices, drawing insights from Harvard professor Clayton Christensen’s Jobs to Be Done (JTBD) theory and Marty Cagan’s strategies for successful product development. As a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Eric leverages Agile methodologies to achieve superior product quality, faster time-to-market, and enhanced flexibility and adaptability.
Eric began his career in the telecom sector (Intelligent Networks), where he held multiple roles and was involved in launching a range of innovative services, including Asia’s first pre-paid mobile and pre-paid internet services in Australia and Japan.

Eric holds a Computer Science degree (EPITA BTS) and he is a certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).

Personal

Raised in Paris, Eric now resides in Brussels, having previously lived and worked in Amsterdam, Boston, Düsseldorf, Hong Kong, London, and Singapore. His international experiences have enriched his perspective, enabling him to bring a unique, multicultural approach to his professional endeavors. Eric is passionate about technology, education, culture, travel, investing, and politics.
