The ROPES model – Pedagogic principles of the training solution:

Our methodology ensures that the programmes not only teach people the relevant knowledge, but by being involved in experiential learning participants are also able to directly apply the skills.

In order to achieve the business and learning objectives, the programme needs to focus on the right content, delivered in a format that supports learning.

The pedagogic principles and considerations behind the design of the programme are based on the ROPES model. Each section of the classroom training and the recommended virtual training elements are structured in this way.

  • Review and Relate: Stimulate recall of prior knowledge and link content to what participants already know
  • Overview: Inform participants of the objective—why do they need to know or be able to do this?
  • Presentation: Present the content using examples, demonstrations, brainstorming and other techniques
  • Exercise: Participants apply the new knowledge, practice new skills, give and receive feedback
  • Summary: Discuss how new skills will be adapted for individual participant use in the workplace

This ROPES format generates optimal learning & makes the most of the classroom experience for participants.
