John has 25+ years of international business experience in Procurement and P2P (Procure to Pay) and has worked with major companies in the UK and Europe, including Japan Tobacco International, British Airways and Premier Foods. He has a proven track record in line management, people development and in delivering results for the business, optimising the effectiveness of procurement systems, processes, people and organisations and fostering innovative, customer-oriented functions. John focuses on developing and upskilling his team members so as to increase their expertise and business contribution and has managed people from all regions in the world.
Professional background
John spent 12 years leading the Indirect Procurement and P2P operations for Gallaher and Japan Tobacco International, with an organisation of 300+ covering 50+ countries worldwide. He was responsible for the creation of a new regional business model, re-engineering of P2P processes and implementation of new IT processes to increase organisational capability and results. A major part of this strategy was to design and build a Procurement Academy to train, develop and upskill his organisation. He also established effective change management with his team and internal customers in support of the transformations and to ensure smooth transitions to the new operating models.
At British Airways John was in charge of the procurement and supply chain for the inflight entertainment equipment onboard BA’s aircraft. John gained extensive experience of major capital contracting, supplier management and supply chain management.
John started his career with Premier Foods in 1991 after leaving university where he gained his experience in negotiation and supplier management.

John holds an MBA from Lancaster University, a BA Hons Geography from the University of Northumbria. He is a Member of theChartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS)
