Tony Namigai

Faculty PictureA senior operations and finance professional, Tony Namigai brings to MCE his 40 years of international experience in Diversified Finance, Business Planning and Development, Strategy, Leadership, Financial, International Team Development, Management, Operations and Change Management. He has experience in the electronics, telecoms, semiconductor and steel industries and has gained expertise in transforming businesses to achieve financial turnaround. Tony has a strong process orientation through the Six Sigma discipline.

Professional background

Today Tony consults in the areas of Strategy, Business Development and Transformation. More recently, he served as Director of the Conference Board’s European Council of Financial Executives and Controllers. He also served as a board member of a leading Japanese-Thai joint venture manufacturing company in Thailand.
Previously Tony held various key leadership roles with Agilent Technologies (spun off from Hewlett Packard in 1999). Agilent is a global provider of measurement systems, supplies, software, services and support to the electronics, life science and chemical analysis markets.
Tony was the COO and CFO with profit & loss and asset responsibilities of two, full-functions global business units sequentially. In both BU’s cases, which were suffering big losses from the Dot.com bubble burst of year 2000, Tony was able to quickly turn the business into profitability.
Tony also worked as the Controller, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, of the Electronics Products and Solutions Group, and was the Operations Director of the Customer Services Centre (EMEA and Latin America).
Before that, Tony held senior management roles in finance and customer operations for Hewlett Packard in Europe, US and Asia: As Finance and Administration Director, Test and Measurement Organization (EMEA based in Geneva), he created the consolidated Customer Services Center in Barcelona. He previously served in California as Controller, Semiconductor Test Division, Finance Operations Manager, and TMO and Microwave Communications Group, Finance Specialist, Intercontinental Operations.
Tony also worked in Tokyo as Finance Operations Manager, Japan Test and Measurement Field Organization in HP’s joint venture with Yokogawa Electric where he helped transform the business that was suffering from Japan’s double (real estate and stock market) bubble bust in the early 1990s.
Before joining HP, Tony began his career with a Thai-Japanese joint venture steel products manufacturer, G.S Steel Co in Bangkok, as Director of Finance, Financial Reporting Manager and Financial Analyst.

Education and qualifications

Tony holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, USA and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Menlo College, USA. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool, UK. He is certified Strengthscope, Group Six Sigma Champion, Balance Scorecard.

Personal

A US citizen, Tony lives in Switzerland. He is a native Japanese speaker, who also speaks perfect American English and proficient Thai.
