Faculty PictureTikhon’s expertise in management leadership and business strategy has been built over a 20 year career in key sales/marketing and general management roles, including regional Director position for EMEA with DHL. He has developed secured Board approval and implemented regional market entry strategies for Eastern Europe, Middle East and major African markets for DHL Global Mail. Tikhon also designed European sales strategies and managed their implementation process with the relevant country teams. He has an extensive experience in facilitation of the sales efficiency improvement programs, as well as in management of the business acquisition and integration activities for the B2B sector. Tikhon has a unique experience in building effective agency/franchise operations in EMEA markets. He has worked across 3 continents in multicultural environments.

Professional background

Tikhon started his career with DHL in 1992 in the position of Marketing & Sales Manager for Russia. He steered the development and growth of profitable business for DHL in Russia, being responsible for sales team performance, as well as marketing strategy. Tikhon has been successful in building DHL domestic service capabilities through setting local network of own stations, as well as agencies. DHL market share in Russia topped 65% by 1997, when a major economic crisis hit the economy and local businesses. Tikhon’s role has been crucial to support DHL business through introduction of customized service solutions and improved relationships with major local customers.
In 1998 Tikhon was promoted to the position of Marketing & Sales Director for the CIS markets. In addition to Russia, his span of responsibilities included business development and growth in the markets of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and others.
Tikhon moved to Brussels in 2002 to join the world-wide headquarters of DHL serving in the capacity of Head of Sales Development & Strategy for Europe. Tikhon’s responsibilities included design and implementation of the regional sales roadmap, management of sales integration and sales efficiency activities. Later he worked as the M&S Director for Central Europe, being responsible for top line growth of DHL business in Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia and Bulgaria.
In 2007, Tikhon became MD for DHL Global Mail in the EMEA region in charge of major markets across Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His focus has been on business development and expansion into new markets, while respecting local regulatory restriction for postal providers.

In 2011, Tikhon was appointed Managing Director of NV Bekaert for the countries of the CIS.

Education and qualifications

Tikhon holds an executive MBA from The University of Chicago Booth, as well as BA in Engineering from Moscow Technical University (MEI).

Personal

Tikhon lives in Brussels and has dual nationality of Belgium and Russia. He conducts his workshops in English and/or Russian.
