He has a broad functional background having worked as a Managing Director, Sales Manager, VP Sales Operations and Project Manager.
He is a strong strategic and analytical thinker and has particular expertise in leadership of both formal and informal teams, strategy implementation and people motivation across cultures and continents.

Professional background

Currently, Thomas works as an independent sales consultant and sales trainer as well as a transactional advisor with special focus on Italy.

1998-2014: VP Sales Operations, Global Blue. Financial and marketing services for the retail industry. Based in Vienna, Thomas was responsible for sales systems, processes, education and global sales projects of a sales organisation of 430 headcount in 38 countries on four continents. Before, he held the position of VP Sales Central Europe managing a sales organisation of 135 in 8 countries including Germany. He started his career at Global Blue as Managing Director Austria with responsibility for the local organisation including an internal administrative service centre for sister companies. During these 15 years, he developed and implemented local and international restructurings, brandings and re-brandings compensating and utilizing market changes in size and market players. Among others, he was responsible for the sales methodology of the global sales organisation and for 1/3 of the group’s sales EBITDA.

1995-1998: Project Manager, Berger Strategy Consultants. Thomas worked successfully for the Competence Centres Consumer Goods and Retail as well as Finance. He was staffed on restructuring, strategy and cost cutting projects in Austria, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland.

1991-1995: Consultant and Junior Partner, MAC. M&A consulting. Thomas was working as a Junior Partner in this advisory boutique on equity financing and company transactions.

1989-1991: Corporate Finance Manager, Deutsche Bank. Banking and Finance. After a trainee period in Munich, Thomas worked for Deutsche Bank in the Corporate Finance team on equity and mezzanine financing concepts and structures.

Education and qualifications

Thomas holds a masters degree of WU Wien (Vienna University of Economics) in Business Administration. He is a certified business consultant by the Chamber of Commerce in Vienna (WKW) and has successfully completed a number of executive courses at Hernstein Institut (Vienna), INSEA (Paris) and IESE (Barcelona).

Personal

Thomas currently lives and does business from Vienna. He has lived and worked in Austria, Italy and Germany before and facilitates in German, English and Italian. Thomas is a strong believer in visualization working as well as a conceptual photographer.
