Stephane de Mahieu

Faculty PictureStephane brings to MCE more than 30 years of leadership experience in the natural resource extraction and product manufacturing industries with exposure to joint-ventures, affiliate management, large operations and projects.
He covered a broad line management scope, including Managing Director and Lead Country Manager. By combining his sound management experience with a pragmatic approach, he successfully delivered complex operations & project execution, restructuring, divestments, contract negotiations. He headed teams of up to 1,500 people in 6 countries for a major global oil & gas corporation, as well as in world-scale petrochemical manufacturing sites.

Professional background

Stephane was the Managing Director of North Caspian Operating Company N.V., where he worked based in Kazakhstan between 2014 and 2015. In this role, he was in charge of the Development and Operations of the Kashagan Oil and Gas.
Before this, Stephane spent the majority of his tenure with a major multi- national oil & gas corporation. He was the Lead Country Manager and Production Manager for their operations in Angola from 2010 to 2013.
He was also the Lead Country Manager and Production Manager in Chad and Cameroon from 2007 to 2010, whereby he was in charge of the operations of Chad’s Kome and satellites onshore oil fields as well as the operations of Chad-Cameroon oil transportation pipeline and export system.
Before this, he was the Global Safety, Health and Environmental (HSE) Manager for the Chemicals Division in Houston, Texas between 2004 and 2006. He also established a Product Stewardship and Regulatory Compliance function in HSE.
During his tenure, he was also the Chemical Site Manager in Baytown, Texas as well as Corporate Safety Programs Manager between 2000 and 2001 based in Dallas, Texas.

Education and qualifications

Stephane holds a Master in Electrical Engineering, a diploma from the INSEAD Young Managers Program and from IMD in International Management.

Personal

Stephane, his wife and 3 children moved more than 12 times internationally during his career. They lived in Belgium, France, Connecticut, Houston and Dallas, Chad, Angola and Kazakhstan.
