Ron Roobroeck

Faculty PictureRon has more than 20 years of business expertise in Global Business, with deep-rooted experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Diagnostic and Medical Device environment (B2B, B2C and B2G). He has worked with major companies in the US, Europe and Japan, including Novartis, Roche, Medtronic, Terumo.
His expertise lies in Global Sales, Marketing and Operational Management, New Product Launches, Market Access, Quality and Regulatory, Business Intelligence, Fundraising, Alliance Management, Distribution Channel management ranging from strategy to execution. He is recognized as someone with a can-do attitude inspiring this in others, resulting in empowerment, team work, mutual trust and on-time delivery.
Due to his international experience (EMEA-JAPAC-Canada-SA), he worked with and managed people from all regions in the world and has a high cross-cultural sensitivity.

Professional background

Ron started his career with Novartis as Sales Representative in the Pharmaceutics Arena. He quickly was promoted to Product manager in different medical specialities.
Within Roche, he helped the integration of the sales staff of Boehringer Mannheim and performed extensive competitive analysis to identifying rival strategies; initiated counterstrategies and programs to surpass competition. Ron also introduced, promoted and coordinated the global hospital key account strategy.
In Terumo, as General Manager EMEA, he redesigned the organization corporate structure (75 FTE) and branding/strategy in the Emerging Market department (sales, marketing and operations) with clear goals for continuous business process improvement in combination with a CRM and ERP introduction. He reviewed the contracts with all +/- 60 distributors (including clear KPI’s and SLA’s) in line with the applicable internationals laws and regulatory requirements. He opened offices in Vienna and Moscow.
Within Integrity Applications, he designed and implemented the International Sales and Marketing strategy and structure needed to launch a new innovative medical device.

Education and qualifications

Ron holds an Executive MBA (VLERICK), a Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, a Master of Science in Biomedical Kinesiology and a Postgraduate in Business Administration (KULeuven).
Ron is also certified PSS (Professional Selling Skills), he obtained a Pedagogic Teaching Certificate from the University of Leuven and successfully attended a Marketing Champions Program at the INSEAD.

Personal

Ron lives in Leuven, is fluent trilingual in Dutch, English, French with a good understanding of German. He did semi-professional sport on a high level (Athletics, Triathlon).
