Pieter Korst is a seasoned international pharmaceutical executive with more than 28 years of operational, sales, marketing and general management experience in the pharma industry, spanning Europe, Asia and MENA. Over his 21 years with Janssen Pharmaceutica (JNJ) and Shire, he grew from field roles in sales and marketing to general management and executive- and vice president roles. Pieter’s strengths lie in translating strategy into operational implementation, revitalizing and motivating teams. As a leader he demonstrated his ability to develop people and drive change. Pieter has long experience training, coaching and mentoring rising talent in the organizations in which he has worked.
Professional background
Since 2013 Pieter has been an independent Consultant. He is currently acting as a strategic advisor and workshop leader in the pharma industry, with particular focus in the rapidly changing field of pharmaceutical sales and marketing.
2011-2013: Shire-Movetis, Belgium – Senior Director Alliance Management.
Pieter Managed the Alliance between Shire and JNJ with regard to the Shire-Movetis Portfolio, driving and negotiating terms and opportunities for collaboration. He was also Marketing & Sales Business partner to Export and member of the Global Product Strategy Teams in Shire.
2010-2011: Shire Pharmaceuticals, Belgium – GI Lead Benelux, Senior Director.
As leader of the Gastrointestinal Business Unit, Pieter managed the launch and premarketing of products and also acted as Board Member.
2009-2010: Movetis NV, Belgium – VP Marketing & CRM.
Pieter set up and supervised Movetis local operations, ensured coordinated submissions of pricing and reimbursement across EU. Pieter was owner of the international marketing plan and and core member-negotiator of the Movetis EU Partnering Team. He was a resourceful Board Member for both the CEO and Board and owner of the commercial relationships with Janssen.
2003-2008: Janssen-Cilag, Middle East and West Asia (MEWA) – Executive Director Strategic Marketing
Pieter was responsible for launching new products in the region, setting up a powerful team. He was the architect of growth initiatives; and led regional strategic acquisition, process excellence and strategic planning.
2000-2003: Janssen-Cilag MEWA – Managing Director Egypt and Member of the Board of Directors.
Pieter set up a powerful leadership team, formed and managed business partnerships, and enriched the product portfolio. He successfully downsized the company and set it up for future growth. Pieter was board member for both the area firector and peers of the MEWA Board.
1998-2000: Janssen-Cilag Netherlands, Business Unit Director Neurology & Hematology.
Pieter revitalized and unified two business units, developed team members to board positions.
1996-1998: Janssen-Cilag, Jakarta, Indonesia – Business Unit Director and Member of the Board of Directors Indonesia & South Asia – Regional Director Marketing Training.
Pieter modernized the business unit, launched new programs, trained and developed people.
1992-1998: JanssenPharmaeuticaNV – Regional Marketing & Sales Support Manager
Pieter was responsible for country support Southeast Asia and later Central Eastern Europe: led Marketing and Sales, and regional launch of products.
1986-1992: Janssen Pharmaceutica NL – Product Management
Pieter began his career as Assistant Product Manager to eventually become Group Product Manager.

Pieter holds an MSc degree in Life Sciences from the Utrecht State University in the Netherlands.
Personal
Pieter is Dutch and lives in the Netherlands. He delivers his workshops in Dutch and English.
