Guy is a certified coach and certified NLP Practitioner. Guy brings to MCE 23 years’ international experience in the Telecom Industry, including Strategy and Business Planning, Strategy Implementation, Quality and Product Management. He has a proven track record in managing major strategic programmes, including two integrations. He also managed, besides his main responsibilities, the volunteering efforts of a major organisation reflecting his fundamental belief that values and trust are at the heart of business performance. With two Masters’ degrees and a Doctorate, Guy brings keen insight into the areas he addresses.
Professional background
2008-2013. Head of Strategy, BT Operate (12,000 people). Agreement of the strategic direction for BT’s operations with the strategy directors of market-facing units and the BT Operate Executive Board. Collaboration with BT Operate business unit strategy leads to identify key programs and budget to deliver market unit requirements. Triggering and implementing benchmarking initiatives where required. Creating E2E CSR agenda in 2012, building on significant commitment already in place on carbon reduction and volunteering.
2003-2008. Program Director for Strategic programs. 2003-4: defining BT’s Global Wholesale Voice strategy to face the challenges of VOIP. 2004-5: integration of Radianz (900 people). 2005: creation of professional communities in BT Global Customer Service (10.000 people). 2006-2008: building and rolling out BT’s capability in ITIL, including ISO20000 certification. Guy remains a member of the British ISO20000 committee.
2000-2003. Head of Planning and Performance, BT Global Services Networks (2000 people). Creation of Strategic Plan, Business Plan, monitoring of execution via a Balanced Scorecard. Ensuring alignment to plan and cascade of key strategic objectives. Volume forecasting and build of Networks CAPEX budget. Benchmarking and public relations with industry analyst community. Processes, Policy and ISO 9000. Integration of the Networks organisation from Concert (BT’s Joint Venture) and delivery of new Global Services Networks Organisation (2000 people) in an intensive 3-month project.
1997-2000. Head of Quality BT Europe Strategic Quality agenda. EFQM internal and external assessment, and managing ISO9001 certification. Creation, design and operation of BT Europe’s Balanced Scorecard. Creation and management of the BT European Quality Forum (bringing together Heads of Quality of BT’s joint ventures). Public speaker on BT’s quality journey. Guy still participates actively on the quality scene as a member of the jury for the annual French “Quality and Performance” book prize.
1991-1997. Product and product launch management for BT Europe (Data and internet services), preceded by software and QA management for software developed by BT in France.
Education and qualifications
Guy holds an MA from Cambridge University in French, German and Linguistics, an MSc from University College London in Telecoms Business, and an Engineering Doctorate (“Decision Making in a Complex and Uncertain Environment”) from University College London.
Personal
Guy is British, has lived in France since 1980, speaks perfect French, and delivers his coaching and programmes in English and French. He is a choral exhibitioner of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and has directed choirs for over 20 years.
