Gerard brings to MCE 25 years cross-border corporate finance experience in Central and Eastern Europe and CIS: privatization, IPO’s, M&A, financial strategy, and business planning. He has expertise in the utilities, communications, manufacturing, financial institutions and professional services industries. As former managing partner of Deloitte CIS and interim manager he is an experienced leader, board member and executive team member. Gerard combines his financial expertise with a fascination for development of high-performing teams and talent as a facilitator and executive coach.
Professional background
Currently, Gerard is an independent advisor, executive learning facilitator and coach. Gerard serves on the audit committee of the Association of European Businesses in Russia and the advisory board of NANR, the alumni association of Russian businessmen and scientists who studied in the Netherlands.
2008-current: Owner, Uijtendaal Accountants and Advisors BV (Moscow and Amsterdam).
Gerard combines financial expertise with people management skills to help companies and people to succeed. 2006-2008: Managing Partner Financial Advisory Services, member of the Executive Committee and Talent Leader, Deloitte CIS (Moscow).
Gerard was responsible for Valuation, Corporate Finance Advisory, Transaction Support, Forensic and Restructuring Services, working with a total of 400 professionals in 4 locations in CIS. The top-line growth was more than 50% per annum. He Improved quality and engagement and reduced staff turnover from over 40% to less than 20%. In recognition for his people talent skills, he became Talent Leader for Deloitte CIS (4,000 employees) and took overall board responsibility for HR strategy and implementation. Gerard rolled out a firm-wide behavioural change initiative: “Being Deloitte”. He designed, implemented and delivered new managers’ learning program, and revitalized a “Path to Partnership” development program. He was Chairman of the Employer of Choice committee, leading the HR and Learning department (80 employees).
2000-2005: Managing Director, BDO New Markets.
Gerard built and led a team of 25 corporate finance professionals, specializing in engagements in CEE and CIS. He was responsible for privatizations, IPO’s, cross-border M&A, post-merger integration. He was engaged in deals in utilities, transport, communications, manufacturing, banking, leasing, and agribusiness. His last engagement brought him to Russia, as interim COO for a wholesale and retail organization in white-goods and footwear, where he was leading a major restructuring, involving 400 staff.

Corporate Finance engagements for privatization agencies, multinational donors, private equity and public companies in relation to M&A, IPO’s, financing, due diligence, valuations and post-merger integration.
Education and qualifications
Gerard is a certified auditor from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands. Currently, he is finalizing his M.Sc. in Strategic Human Resources Management, specializing on the role of leaders in team learning. Executive education from Amsterdam Center of Finance, Nijenrode Business University, Oxford Business school and Center for Creative Leadership. Gerard is a guest lecturer at Executive MBA program of MGIMO, Russia.
Personal
Gerard is Dutch and lives in Moscow. He conducts his workshops in English, Russian and Dutch.
