His natural ability to interact with people from different cultures combined with his successful career as a consultant and facilitator led him to work with major international brands.

Professional background

Currently Florin is an independent consultant. Since 2013 he has helped organizations in the Middle East, Canada, Eastern Europe and China to maximize return from sales and marketing efforts at the point of sale, or to use information systems to collect, structure, analyze and disseminate sales and market data.

2011-2013: Director Corporate Training, Canadian University of Dubai. Established a portfolio of courses and certificate programs, internal processes to address leads in the marketplace, prepare proposals, negotiate deals and deliver courses for a variety of clients. Managed courses and issued certificate of successful completion to over 1,200 participants: lawyers, project managers, sales representative, and senior government executives from the countries in the Middle East, such as the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman. Brought over one Million AED in additional revenues to Dubai Education.

2001-2011: Management Consultant, Learning Synergy. Based in Toronto and in Saint John, Canada, established and managed own small business. Consulted with Electronic Commerce Centre to design and create an e-learning package for small & medium sized firms in New Brunswick (Canada), about building and implementing an e-business strategy. Consulted with an American online university to get accreditation for offering an undergraduate business degree in Canada. Consulted with University of New Brunswick to negotiate international agreements and managed academic programs in Beijing and Shenzhen (China).

1992-2000: Trade Development Manager, Philip Morris. Based in Romania, started as sales representative in 1992, then area supervisors (1993-94), trainer and manager for business development. Prepared yearly proposals, budgets, and coordinated implementation for Sales & Trade Marketing Plans. Delivered training programs in Romania, Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia. Project Manager for sales information systems (1995 & 1998) and nationwide retail census (1998). Project Manager L&M American Cinema (1995) and Marlboro Music Tour (1994 & 1995).

Education and qualifications

Florin holds a PhD in Communication from Ryerson-York Universities in Toronto, an MBA in e-business from the University of New Brunswick (Canada), an Executive MBA from ASEBUSS Bucharest & University of Washington (Seattle), and an engineering degree in radio navigation. Florin also completed professional development courses in leadership, teambuilding, key accounts, negotiation, and marketing effectiveness.

Personal

Florin lives in Qatar. He delivers his workshops in English and Romanian, and holds dual citizenship – Canadian and Romanian.
