Andreas Matje

Faculty PictureAndreas gathered experience in academics (about 5 years) and in business. He occupied top management positions both during his 10 years in the manufacturing industry and during his more than 12 years in the oil & gas industry allowing him to develop international management and leadership skills. Throughout his career he has focused on building and leading strong teams for both efficiently running day-to-day operations and effectively delivering strategy, change and transformation projects.

Professional background

Currently, Andreas works as consultant focusing on strategy & organization, financial management and business / finance transformation. He is also lecturing at University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and acts as supervisory board member (e.g., 2018 – 2021 Ukrainian Railways where he also acted as chairman of the Audit Committee).

During 2013 – 2017 Andreas held the position of CFO at OMV Petrom S.A., a stock-listed integrated oil & gas company headquartered in Bucharest. In addition to Finance and Controlling, he was responsible for Internal Audit, Compliance, Shared Services and Procurement.
In the 4 years prior to his, he worked as SVP Controlling & Accounting with OMV AG, Austria’s integrated oil & gas group.
Before that, Andreas was working with Polyfelt GmbH (renamed to TenCate Geosynthetics GmbH; a manufacturer of synthetic products for civil engineering) headquartered in Austria, with production and sales locations in Europe, South-East Asia and Australia (joint venture). After joining as VP Finance & Administration, Andreas became a Managing Director (Finance and Production) in 2003.
In the years up to 1998 Andreas has been working as Controller in OMV AG’s Corporate Controlling department as well as Assistant Professor at the University of Economics and Business, Vienna (Industrial Management).

Education and qualifications

Andreas holds a DEc (Doctor of Economics) from the University of Economics and Business, Vienna and an MBA from the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto.

Andreas lives and works internationally out of Austria.
