Ask a group of people to define leadership and you’ll get a mix of messages, maybe even a few arguments. This eclectic mix of random thoughts and ideas has been created to inform, educate and entertain, and perhaps inspire you to craft your very own definition of leadership and style.

The American Management Association and MCE have been engaged in the business (dare we call it the art) of developing leaders for a great many years. In the 55 years, since MCE’s creation in Brussels in 1961, we have seen many leaders in the world come and go. Some were good, others indifferent and a few inspirational. It seems to be that we revere the ones that made us think, gave us a vision, a purpose, a passion, and a feeling of being part of something important. Today, in this 21st century, there is more written and talked about leadership now than ever before – and we still debate about “what makes a great leader” Maybe we’ll never fully know or fully agree.
